2007-11-06 13:56:23 Michael D. Stemle, Jr. description So I've been having serious power-management issues with this machine (S76 daru2) for a little while now, and I always wrote this off as part of the power manager dimming the screen before. Now I'm getting the screen blanking without the power manager doing anything, so I think it may be its own issue. Attached is my /var/log/acpid, and in it you will see that periodically there is a report of an event being received. I have watched closely and each time these 8 lines are printed to the acpid log file, my screen goes blank until I move either my mouse cursor or hit a key. These lines are very consistent, and nothing seems to be printed to syslog or messages when this happens either. Let me know if you need anything else. Here's a sample of the log output: [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] received event "processor P001 00000080 ffffffff" [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] notifying client 5176[107:116] [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] notifying client 5515[0:0] [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] completed event "processor P001 00000080 ffffffff" [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] received event "processor P002 00000080 ffffffff" [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] notifying client 5176[107:116] [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] notifying client 5515[0:0] [Tue Nov 6 07:25:55 2007] completed event "processor P002 00000080 ffffffff" So I've been having serious power-management issues with this machine (S76 daru2) for a little while now, and I always wrote this off as part of the power manager dimming the screen before. 2009-01-07 14:14:29 Loïc Minier acpid: statusexplanation I'm closing the acpid task; this report states that acpid logs "interesting messages", these messages are generated straight from the ACPI events as acpid receives them from the kernel, this is not a bug in itself. The problem described here seems to either be unrelated to these events (not sure why it would relate really), or due to mishandling of these events; acpid doesn't handle these events, acpi-support or hal might though.
