Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi

Was running CPU intensive video encoding when the temps went to Critical state then the fan shut off and temps climbed. Under normal operations the fan will change speed as I can hear it when it happens but it is random. As the temps climb the fan does not spin faster it will usually stay at one speed or about 40%. I have lm-sensors installed and detected the sensors. I have Gnome Sensor Applet 2.2.5 installed and the critical limit set to 150 F I have 1 acpi sensor reading 100 F and 2 libsensors reading 100 F and 106 F at the time of this report.

is that 106 degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius???

because if it is Fahrenheit than your computer is actually running very cool and you have no problem.
but if it is Celsius than your computer is about to self-destruct. So is it F or C? it makes all the difference.

In either case give 14.04 beta a try, it fixed my temperature problems.
