wireless internet only works while netbook is on a powersource, on battery power no connection can be made

On my ASUS eeePC 1215N I can connect to the wireless router in Ubuntu, but I can only connect to internet while the netbook has been hooked up to an external power source. As soon as the neUbook starts running on battery power, firefox (and all other programs that connect to the internet) can no longer get access to the internet, even though the network manager says it is still connected to the router. So it looks like the power manager somehow doesn't send enough power to the wireless card while the netbook runs on battery power.

'Actionparsnip' from the launchpad said that it sounds like an acpi bug, which is why I filed this report.
