Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi

After installing Ubuntu 10.04 64bit I tried to monitor the fans by doing:

$ sensors-detect

The output contained:

Trying family `SMSC'... Yes
Found unknown chip with ID 0x4b00
Probing for Super-I/O at 0x4e/0x4f

Viewing the /proc/acpi/fan:

chris@chris-laptop:/proc/acpi/fan$ ls -lsa
total 0
0 dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2010-09-07 09:58 .
0 dr-xr-xr-x 11 root root 0 2010-09-07 07:37 ..
chris@chris-laptop:/proc/acpi/fan$

I am afraid my laptop will die on me sometime in the future as it gets quite hot without doing anything special.
