brightness keys don't work anymore on HP Pavilion dv3550 EL

Hi, I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 on HP Pavilion dv3550el

I had notified the following bug:

>The live disk version handles brightness keys correctly. after a couple of recent updates, they don't work

Actually, I have just realized that the live version has exactly the same bug, that is:

When the brightness keys are pressed, the brightness icon appears on the screen and the brightness level bar moves, but luminosity does not actually change.

Note that all other keys work well (volume, display switch, wifi kill switch, and even multimedia: start/stop, rew, ffwd)

Should it be an ACPI problem, here are the related versions:

Running Jaunty Beta 2.6.28-11-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 3 17:39:41 UTC 2009 x86_64 here on a 13.3" HP Pavilion dv3550eo and with the same lspci output as above.

Same problem, brightness isn't affected using brightness keys. /proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness do change however.

Dear All,
i have one HP DV 3550 and i have the same problem....

pressing the key regarding the backlight brightness the luminosity is not be affected.

So if you disconnect the power cable, le brightness remain at 100% and doen't go to 60% as requested.

If anyone as one idea.

I hope in an update of ACPI or in the new 9.10 ubuntuversion.
