Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi-support

new linux kernel does not support the method used in wireless.sh to switch off the card.
How will il be changed?

I know that some cards (maybe only intel ones) have another file named rf_kill which kills the radio.
I don't know if this method will save the same battery life as the previous one

And what about for non-intel cards? How should we do?

I think that when coding this script it is also very important to think how to cooperate with network-manager for:
-) user notifications
-) automatic reconnect and scan when wireless in re-enabled
-) automatically enable/disable wireless lans in the context menu

Thanks for reporting this. However, since it is really a question/feature request as opposed to a real bug I will be rejecting this.

Changed in acpi-support:
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected
