Bug Description

I tested Lucid on a Thinkpad T61 / x 61 with internal Sierra Wireless 3G Datacard.

When pressing FN+F5 I expect that all radio devices are enabled or disabled. What I can see is:
bluetooth can be enabled / disabled
802.11g is resetting?!?
For wwan nothing happens.

This is a bug in Ubuntu Lucid, which is a different project from Lucid, an editor. So I have marked the bug Invalid for Lucid, but reassigned it to the Ubuntu team for them to take a look at.

The hotkey is recognized, the /etc/acpi/events/ibm-wireless action is triggered and the /etc/acpi/ibm-wireless.sh script executed. However, the script does not check or change the state of any included 3G card.

I would argue that the provided patch is not a correct solution, because we want the hotkey to rotate through all possible states rather than tying the 3G and bluetooth status together. OTOH, having 4 states (wlan+bluetooth) is already somewhat unwieldly; having 8 states may be too much. Torsten, what do you think? Would you mind preparing a patch to rotate through the combinations?

(If you think 8 states is too much, can you tell me why we should prefer tying 3G to bluetooth rather than to wlan?)

Attached is a patch for 8 states, the state matrix is written out explicitly in if statements. I hope this help as the order of states can be changed more easily.

I personally think that 8 states are too many, this is why I went with the 4 states in the original patch. I grouped bluetooth and wwan together because I believe they provide the same networking functionality via 3G mostly. I am aware that bluetooth can be used not only for network connectivity, thus being a point for grouping WLAN and WWAN together. I have no strong opinion on either grouping though.
