Could you give some details about what type of laptop you're using?

  sudo dmidecode --type system

should provide this.

@sylvek: I assume your configuration is the standard ubuntu one... with no fancy tuning of your own. When you say the screen is black, it is after sleep. Can you confirm that after hibernate everything is ok beside screen not locked.

At resume, can you check the following:
- toggling capslock and numlock
- changing to virtual term vt1 (Ctrl-Alt-F1)
- shut down with power button

Fantastic, good to know it's working now.

There was a patch that went in today for gnome-power-manager to always lock the screen coming out of resume.

Could you also test Suspend (rather than Hibernate).

You'll need to enable this by setting the top option in:

  /etc/default/acpi-support
  ACPI_SLEEP=true

and if that works we can white-list your laptop as having working suspend aswell.

tested presently under battery

- hibernate (suspend to disk) : it's working! (just one problem, i loose my touchpad it's a problem with the module sonypi. if i reload sonypi module i loose touchpad else i loose keyboard fn options)

- sleep (suspend to ram) : it's working! (just one problem, i receive a message box explain to me that the sleep mode was an error, see the FAQ etc)
