Bug Description
An option to call aticonfig --set-power=1 --effective=now from /etc/acpi/power.sh when on battery should probably be added- causes dramatic improvements in battery life (from 2 hours to 3)

I agree. I just encountered the powerTOP tool from Intel (www.linuxpower top.org) and my battery went from 3 hours remaining to 3.6 ours remaining, after using "aticonfig --set-powerstat e=1". Also it would be nice that this could be a default setting in the powersave profile if one uses an ATI card.
