Bug Description

An option to call aticonfig --set-power=1 --effective=now from /etc/acpi/power.sh when on battery should probably be added- causes dramatic improvements in battery life (from 2 hours to 3)

I agree. I just encountered the powerTOP tool from Intel (www.linuxpowertop.org) and my battery went from 3 hours remaining to 3.6 ours remaining, after using "aticonfig --set-powerstate=1". Also it would be nice that this could be a default setting in the powersave profile if one uses an ATI card.

It is possible to get the desired behavior by editing this file:

  /etc/default/fglrx

It belongs to package xorg-driver-fglrx:

Package: xorg-driver-fglrx
Maintainer: Aric Cyr <email address hidden>
Architecture: i386
Source: fglrx-installer
Version: 8.42.3-1

I created this package myself from the driver that I downloaded from
ati.amd.com.
