Bug Description

When I close my notebook, it doesn't turn display off although I have it in my settings to do so.

$ cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/C20C/state
state: open

I get this whenever is lid pressed or not. So I guess its state is detected incorrectly.

My notebook is HP530

This sounds like a duplicate of bug 206511.
Can you please check, if the workaround mentioned there works for you?

They discuss problem where pressed lid button crashes PC in 10-20
minutes. They solve it this way, too.

However it didn't help me. Lid button doesn't work still.

Have to confirm this in upgraded II.

However, when I ran II in runlevel 1 and started acpi manually, it worked. Will search which init script conflicts with it.
