Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi-support

When suspending to ram or hibernating the machine would successfully wake up but to a black screen with a mouse cursor. X would repeatedly restart and then eventually lock up the machine (this bug has been reported before, but the solution was exactly the opposite of what is to follow now).

Reproducable: every time

The problem was solved by changing /etc/default/acpi-support to read:

...
SAVE_VBE_STATE=false
...

As an additional note: setting POST_VIDEO=true (i've got it on false) does not change the result. When i switch on SAVE_VBE_STATE it hangs, when i disable SAVE_VBE_STATE it works like a charm.
