abiword on edgy hangs trying to import OpenDocument text file

Binary package hint: abiword

A fresh installed version of Abiword hangs on trying to open an odt file (see attached file error.odt). I think this related to the missing ODT plugin within the default install? The file chooser lets you choose the file and does not complain about it.

I also attach a "working" helloworld.odt which gets importet meaning Abiword does not hang and just shows binary zip stuff.

This bug report is not about the missing ODT plugin but about a hanging application.

Side note: abiword consumes according to top about 99 percent of CPU while trying to open error.odt.

install abiword-plugins and it will work. if it still doesn't please reopen this bug.

This still happens with Feisty, abiword hangs completely. The desired result would be a "plugin missing for files of type ODT, download from here: etcetc" not just a total lock-up requiring a kill.

I can confirm that this affects feisty as well as edgy, an annoying bug that doesn't provide any feedback to the user about what is happening or why it happened.
