Bug Description
Binary package hint: abiword
If I have a collaborative document, and it has text like this:
"...ability to decode letters..." and I want to insert a comma, and I do it by selecting a space (sweeping it out) and then typing comma, like so:
"...ability to decode_letters..." (Here an underscore substitutes for the selected region.)
"...ability to decode,letters..."
then you find that the entire string "decode, letters" has my author color, rather than just the comma.
All I added was the comma, and I get credit for the two neighboring words.

Interestingly, Undo doesn't cause the author coloring to revert back to the original value, even though it turns the comma back into a space.
