AbiWord doesn't render MS .doc correctly

I have 142 pages (in OOo that is) .doc file. When i opens this with AbiWord
2.2.2 currently in Hoary, it shows me 10 pages.
The file has tables, images, autogenerated index and other scary stuff, but in
OOo it looks pretty good. Abiword completely messes up the layout. I can attach
a screenshot if necessary
I would try 2.2.7 but it needs libc6 (>= 2.3.4-1) and i'm not going there..

Confirmed with 2.2.7
It also used 100% of about 2 minutes of my 2500+ machine.

ive found this to be quite a common occurence with abiword, im using Edgy Eft to-date, with abiword 7 compiled :P, and it dosn't work for me either, im betting its abiwords .doc support

This is not a bug, it's a way Abiword is written. It doesn't state 100%-compatibility with MS Word documents.

Ramon de Ruiter, AbiWord in Trusty shows 188 pages, while Office 2013 shows 128. Despite this, the way this bug report was originally written was in a "fix everything" fashion, which isn't how bug reporting works.

Please file a new report, one per one specific issue, via a terminal:
