Bug Description

On a Lubuntu Utopic amd64 system, abiword 3.0.0-5ubuntu1 opened with window that remained completely blank (except the border drawn by the window manager) for about a minute, then crashed a few seconds after I clicked the "x" to quit it. I had launched AbiWord by attempting to open an .odt document created in LibreOffice 4.3.2 for Windows, as I'd forgotten that AbiWord was associated with .odt files on this system.

Though my ultimate goal was to open the document in LibreOffice, I believe it should have opened successfully in AbiWord, or at least not triggered unresponsive behavior followed by a crash. The same document was openable in LibreOffice on this system and I am not aware of any evidence that it is corrupted. I suspect this crash would have occurred with any .odt document, and also suspect that it may have been triggered by my attempt to close AbiWord when it was unresponsive (that is, that there might not have been a crash, had I left it alone and waited longer). I really don't know, though.

This crash bug somewhat resembles bug 921756.
