abiword was colored wrong and then crashes after changing color in lxapperance

Using lubuntu as desktop.
apt-cache policy abiword.

3. I expected abiword to change color.

4.1st open abiword and leave a document open which I had saved in .doc format
Change the forground and background color in lxappearnce and the hit apply. Instead abiword became all black. I think clicked on help and abiword crashed and apport started.

Was attempting to do a save image as. I was able to do it after the crash.
