Resolution reverts after logout screen res change or drop to console and back...

Binary package hint: 915resolution

My resolution is 1280x900. Everything works well unless...
I drop to console and come back again...
I log out...
I use a program that changes the resolution....

I then drops back to the old res... 1024x768
Any ideas if it is me or some bug....

Asus A7F Intel 945 Chipset.

My screen goes black if I use some programs that change the resolution. They may be related.

'i915resolution' is currently a gross kludge to make up for a defective video BIOS. The Intel video driver is currently undergoing updates to be able to program the video modes directly without help of the BIOS (broken, kludged or otherwise).

If you would like to, you can test the new code by installing the:

  'xserver-xorg-video-i810-modesetting'

driver-package instead.

There isn't much we can actually do to sort this out in the mean time; 'i915resolution' is pretty much a stepping stone to bridge the gap
