Bug Description

1.The first character when typing the username upon start will not register on the first attempt. I have to retype the character, then it works.

I noticed this on Herd 2-3? up to the present 2.6.20.15.27-generic kernel.

I reformatted my HD, installed 6.10.The first character in the username
registered properly.
I upgraded to 7.04 (April 14) and the first character did not register
until typed it twice.
