Bug Description
The problem is this: when I start a program or game that uses fullscreen mode, often happens that desktop resolution isn't supported, or needs to be changed for performance reasons, and program/game changes current resolution while it's running. When I close program/game, desktop remains in program/game's resolution instead of returning to default desktop resolution. I had this problem before, but it seems that it got worse since I jumped from Gnome2 to Unity. This is still the issue in 12.04.
It can be tested with supertuxcart, for example. If you have laptop with not-so-great 3D capabilities, it is desirable to run the game at lower resolution than desktop. After leaving the game, the resolution remains lower.
