Bug Description

i have pangolin alpha2 with all updates loaded in a vmware 4.0.2 session with vmware tools compiled. I lock the host system (winxp) for security. Then when I come back and unlock the host computer, pangolin does not come back. This is only happening with accelerate 3d graphics and regular unity running ( not 2d).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/943328/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I'm assuming this is compiz. Just a guess, only because it doesn't happen in 2D

affects: ubuntu → compiz (Ubuntu)

Decided to install gnome 3 desktop enviroment. Got it working with accelerate 3D graphics as well. Problem is repeated here. I"m not sure it's compiz as gnome 3 DE shouldn't be using Compiz. Maybe someone can redirect to correct packages.

The problem is that when you lock the host computer and come out of it, the vm 3d screen does not come back. This is not a problem running a 2D machine.

going to change it to xserver-xorg-video-vmware for now. Seems to only affect vm session when accelerate 3d graphics is on, even when using unity 2D.

affects: compiz (Ubuntu) → xserver-xorg-video-vmware (Ubuntu)

Seems to only affect my machine running xp sp3. Doesn't not occur on vista sp2 running vmware 4.0.4
