Binary package hint: openoffice.org

OO crash when you try to Paste text from a Web Browser (Lets say, Firefox, Konqueror, etc... in resume, html text).

How to Reproduce:

1- Open Firefox, then browse any site (example, Wikipedia).
2- Copy some text that include special characters in them (é, à, or anything else)
3- Open OO writer (or impress, or whatever you want...) and copy the text.
4- Try to save the document, and you will see OO crashing.

NOTE: This happen with latest upgrade of Feisty... i don't know with previous upgrades.

This happen to me in every feisty herd 5 installation... and i have 20 wokstations.. so... (included amd64 version)
In console the only thing that shows when crash is:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'webdav_ucp::DAVException'

This with latest feisty update/upgrade. I dont know before today... i didn't tested.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have been unable to reproduce this with openoffice.org version 2.2.0~rc3~oof680m10-0ubuntu3 . Could you please let us know which specific version of openoffice.org you have installed? You can check with 'dpkg -l openoffice.org'. Thanks in advance.

Heres the output:

ii openoffice.org 2.2.0~rc3~oof680m10-0ubuntu3 OpenOffice.org Office suite

So, the same version as yours.... it seems that happen more often when you copy images to from the website.... cause if you copy only text, does not happen... so, maybe images and tables, styles, etc.

This, as i said, happen in amd64 version too.

I can reproduce the bug when i copy a text with this kind of url:

Step to reproduce :
Copy/Paste any text containing links containing themselves a special character in the URL.

For instance you can go to fr.wikipedia.org and copy a paragraph containing : http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lib%C3%A9ralisme_%C3%A9conomique as URL.
then simply save the document it'll crash openoffice.

Apologies, did not want to annoy you.

The instructions above:

"copy a text with this kind of url:

http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Licence_publique_g%C3%A9n%C3%A9rale_GNU
[return]

When I try to save the document OO will crash."

still crashes OO for me (2.2.0-0ubuntu2).

Should I really file a separate bug then?

it's not about annoying, but please be more specific. I interpret "This has not been solved for all cases", that is was fixed for the original case.

It's not fixed for any of the test cases in this bug report. However,
looking at the related Debian bugs, one issue was fixed, which was the

http://intlcharshére.com

crash.

However, the test cases here are of the kind

http://intl.chars/hére

which still crash OOo for people (including me). So, I assume this bug
is about the latter, in which case this bug is not fixed.

Sorry for the confusion.

Are you saying that there's a fix in CVS that fixes the test cases in
this report? If then, nice. I thought you were still saying it was fixed
in 2.2.0-0ubuntu2, which it is not.

Confirmed fixed in 2.2.0-1ubuntu2. Thanks!

Hopefully neon25 has no security issues?

I am using Karmic Beta with OO.org version 3.1.1 Build:9420 OOO310m19

The issue persists if I use the LANG as en_US.UTF-8 which is the default. However, if I use LANG=C and start OO.org Writer through

$ LANG=C oowriter

Then the issue does not occur. Probably it is related to the language issue? I faced issues earlier with respect to the spellcheck wherein it'll not do the spellcheck when the LANG=en_IN, but when changed to en_US.UTF-8, all was fine. Then I started using a US timezone to make OO.org work as desired.

I believe i am seeing the same issue, i was copying and pasting a dell quote from an email, including a table with coloured rows and varying fonts, it crashes sometimes when i paste the section sometimes when i save and sometimes when i scroll past the section, i tried the above, launching with LANG=C oowriter, this time when i scrolled past the section it crashed again but in the terminal the line 'I18N: Operating system doesn't support locale "en_US"' was output.

I think I am seeing this issue. When I copy parts of a website from a browser (I tried both chrome and firefox) into my OO version 3.1.1 Build:9420 OOO310m19 openoffice crashes. I did not yet fully find out what must be within the copied selection to make openoffice writer crash, but using the same selection it either always crashes or it always doesn't
