Bug Description
Open the current file manager in 11.10. Hit F3 to split the screen. Make sure breadcrumbs are visible along the top of the window. In the split pane that *doesn't* have focus, try to change the directory up one level by clicking on the bread crumbs. It won't work.. you have to have focus in that pane to actually change the directory there. Previous Ubuntu releases did not behave that way.

This is a very old bug. I am sorry it never received any attention, but this is probably because it was never assigned to the right package.
If the problem has gone away, you do not need to do anything, the bug will eventually expire. If you are still having the problem, could let us know what version of Ubuntu you are running now.
