Given that it's an atheros card, linux support would normally be done via the madwifi driver. However, it seems that the chipset in your card is atheros AR5008 (AR5416) which is not yet supported by madwifi. See http://madwifi.org/ticket/1001 for details [and developers getting buried under a mountain of user requests for adding driver support].

As an alternative, there are various reports of this card working via ndiswrapper though:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List (search for "5416")
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=348918
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=307258

Rejecting the bug report since this card not working out of the box is, unfortunately, not a bug in ubuntu.

Err, this card not working in Ubuntu is definitely a bug -- just because it happens to be a bug upstream doesn't mean we should Reject it!

FYI there now is a driver for the Atheros AR5008. You can get the driver at:
http://snapshots.madwifi.org/madwifi-hal-0.9.30.10/

It's still exeprimental and I don't know how well it works.

Just bought a DWA-547 card and compiled ndiswrapper from source and it works great. :-)

Which version of ndiswrapper?

Where did you get the driver?
( Does it have a name or version? )

As of Intrepid, the card seems to be working. Not sure, if all features are supported, but I'm able to browse web in a wireless manner \o/.

new Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release and confirm if this issue remains -

release, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux (Ubuntu)"
