Bug Description

A new upstream release of Unity 2D is out mostly fixing bugs but also introducing a new feature: a search filter panel on the right hand side of the dash UI. That feature is already present in Unity 3D.

Complete list of bugs fixed:

#825368 [dash] Lens icons badly scaled
#827673 [panel] indicators are shifted offscreen to the right
#706903 [panel] scrubbing from system indicators to menubar should be possible
#767367 [launcher] Closed applications don't get their launcher counts cleared
#817456 [dash] selected item should not be underlined but use the same treatment as unity
#827214 [dash] categories should be collapsed by default
#831855 [dash] Ratings filter
#831856 [dash] Multirange filter
#831857 [dash] ToggleButton filter
#831858 [dash] Icon size must be bigger to match the mockups
#832058 [dash] "Refine search" right margin should be 15 pixels
#832060 [dash] "Refine search" should be "Filter results"
#832114 [dash] Font sizes should match new design
#825060 [panel] Glitch: application menu appearing when pressing the BFB
#825267 [panel] Glitch: application menus are quickly opened after a drag gesture
#832204 [dash] File thumbnails aspect ratio is not respected

Did the new filter panel get any nontrivial testing so far? Uploading this right now is rather risky, as we don't have too many extra shots for stabilizing beta-1.

The filter panel is composed of 3 parts:
 - the backend
 - the Qt bindings for the backend
 - the UI

The backend is in Unity since its release before feature freeze.
The new parts are the Qt bindings and the UI. They have been tested by 2 people as part as the development and review process that every change in Unity 2D follows (peer code review and thorough functional reviews).

I feel that the change is not too risky as far as the existing functionalities in Unity 2D are concerned. What might have issues is the filter panel itself.
Note that the filter panel is not entirely new. It was existing in Unity 2D since Natty. This is an improved and extended version of it.

Thanks for the followup. Approved then, as it would otherwise be a feature regression since natty.
