Hello again, 1. First of all: I very much appreciated your input and your suggestions. I experienced the (very agreeable) feeling of working together to get rid of a problem. 2. Thanks for your scenario "after the fact" of the procedure. From it, I have learned that libusb and libusb-devel are not part of the openSUSE distro, at least not in the versions required. However, I am somewhat surprised that a "devel" version should be required for installing a printer. But I happily accept this as a fact. 3. Thanks also for explaining the need for membership of the 'sys' and 'lp' groups. 4. Contrary to your opinion you are, in comparison with me, most certainly an expert ! 5. You have caused to inconvenience at all. On the contrary, you have eliminated an inconvenience that has kept me thinking and trying (off and on) for three months. Finally, I want to thank you again for your expert help and the the speed of your responses. Sincerely, Hans Schreuder. ========================================== Op maandag 13 juni 2011 21:26:18 schreef u: > Hi, > > Thanks Hans Schreuder for doing all the work and letting me know on the > same.
