Bug Description
Touch pad on Samsung RF510-S01SE (Smart Pad) incorrectly identified as P/S2 mouse.
Scrolling doesn't work and no such settings exist in the system settings in Ubuntu 11.04.

I assume that Smart Pad refers to Elan Smart-Pad. In my case windows 7 recognizes this as V5.2. I found a related Achlinux bug
https:/ /bbs.archlinux. org/viewtopic. php?pid= 909394
which forwards to
https:/ /bugzilla. kernel. org/show_ bug.cgi? id=27442
and then it gets a bit too cryptic for me.
Also I suspect that
https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ linux/+ bug/565543
is related or duplicate even though it is about ALPS touch pads. I have Acer eMachines E642G and same problem. Since I have the Elan Smart-pad I try to run apport-collect against this report.
