Bug Description
The possibility of saving sessions on logout and restoring them on login has been completely removed from the gnome 2 desktop. However this was a useful feature of maverick.
Even if this feature was causing problems with unity, removing it does not appear to be a good choice.
The feature was configurable and could be switched off. Switching it off by default would have most likely been a better choice. Those liking it could have switched it back on.
Please, restore maverick's behavior.

I use several machines where I want to have some default applications running when I login. The
option to explicitly save the session was perfect for this. Alternatives are buggy, notably because
there is no good way to start applications at a specific desktop from a startup script.
