Bug Description

I downloaded Natty Narwhal Alpha 1 iso from a cd mirror. When you boot there is two options. Try Ubuntu or Install Ubuntu. First of all I selected my country. Than clicked Install Ubuntu. But in contrast to other Ubuntu versions there were no keyboard layout selection in the installation menu. I think this is a serious bug. Because you may not expect every user to know US keyboard layout by mind. I didn't care and continue setup. I reboot and I was so amazed to see that Ubuntu was installed in English despite I choose my language which is Turkish. As you might know or not know but many people in all of the world tried Natty Beta whom use different languages and keyboard layouts. And I suppose this was a great surprise for them too..

Hope you may fix this problem as soon as possible.

Also on a fresh install when you open start page about:startpage search button doesn't works. This is a minor bug also.

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
Release: 11.04

Hi. I downloaded 64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop CD. I checked using md5sum.

And it is same. And what is worse was the installation wasn't complete with an error message.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1 - Open the computer using Ubuntu CD.
2- Select language Turkish.
3- Select the option Install Ubuntu (Ubuntuyu kur)
4- Select the additional options
Download updates while installing (Kurulum esnasında güncellemeleri kur)
Install this third party software (Üçünçü parti yazılımları kur)

There was some installation messages like this:

ubiquity:setlocale LC_ALL:cannot change locale (tr_TR.UTF-8)
ubiquity:perl:warning:Setting locale failed
ubiquity:perl:Falling back to the standard locale ("C")

And after that I got these error messages: (In Turkish)

There was an error while installing packages.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) The following packages are broken.

In fact this was a long error message mentioning I might be continue to setup. I continued to setup and ended up with an unbootable system.

To figure out what is going on I reboot from CD again. This time selected English. Selected Ubuntu Install but also there is no option to select keyboard layout also in English setup.

So I selected Try Ubuntu option. I am in live cd environment now. This time I'll try to select Language Settings and Keyboard Layout by hand and will try whether this problem continues. And I recognized that in Language Settings there were some languages selected by default. For example Xhosa. I've never heard of this language..

After selecting Try Ubuntu option and starting the installation using the Install Ubuntu 11.04 on desktop I may see keyboard layout selection dialog again. This time I didn't select 'Download updates while installing' and 'Install this third party software' options.

So this is a serious bug anyway because we can not presume all users will select Try Ubuntu option.

Again also I ended up with an English system despite I choose my own language.
