Bug Description

After an average of 8-9 hours loss of network occurs. This happens both with a RealTek and a D-Link ethernet cards on a Toshiba M55-S139 laptop. Kernel is 2.6.17

On the previous version Ubuntu 6.06 the same problem happened but only after 10-15 minutes after reboot. (version 2.6.15 of kernel)

dhclient fails to detect server response
all network applications fail

network services are not disconnected as verified by testing another machine while using same adapter
