Bug Description
The problem is that GREP_OPTION can interfere with a script from running as expected. This is much more annoying when the scripts are /etc/init.d/* or something similar.
I have had upgrades break because I had GREP_OPTION set to '-E' or something similar.
I'm not sure what the fix is, because this effects everything. I would almost say that maybe GREP_OPTION is a bad idea, though I hate throwing away something useful. :-/
Ciao!
