[edgy]"Shutdown button" does not work.

Bug Description

When I click on the "shutdown button" (I actually don't know the english name for it, in Swedish it says "Avsluta") either on the gnome-panel (applet) or in the "system menu" nothing happens. No window popping up to ask if I want to shut down or restart the computer etc. Exactly nothing happens.

Using the command "shutdown" in command line works just fine...

I have a Acer Travelmate 4072wlmi and I am running an up-to-date Ubuntu-edgy-system.

I also have problems loading KDE-based apps, if that could be connected somehow, just for your information.

Now it started working again. I have not upgraded since I reported the bug.
Still it does not work every time, some sessions it does and some it don't.

A workaround is suggested by user radwis in thread
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=276642

Add the boot option acpi=force to the kernel line
in /boot/grub/menu.lst. It works for me. Here's
my Edgy boot clause:

title Kubuntu Edgy 6.10, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic
root (hd0,2)
kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3 ro acpi=force
initrd /initrd.img
boot

Good evening,

I see several comments stating this bug has been fixed and is no longer a problem. On my Edgy box I am able to shutdown without any problems. Can I mark this bug as fix released as it seems to be fixed?

THanks,

Jonathan
