Annoying music plays every time I log in, despite my having told it not to

Bug Description

I clicked on the "System" menu, chose "Administration" / "Login screen"
I noted that the "Play login sound" checkbox was cleared.
I clicked the power-button icon in the upper right, and chose "Guest Session"
The awful login sound played.

I cannot tell you how much I hate that sound. Not being able to control it enrages me.

A workaround:

# (cd /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/ && mv desktop-login.ogg desktop-login.ogg.i-cannot-tell-you-how-much-i-hate-this-sound)

You could possibly try Preferences > Sounds > Sound Effects Tab and select "No Sound" from the Sound theme dropdown?

I suppose I could, but even if that were to work, it'd be
unsatisfying, since it'd suppress _all_ sounds, whereas I only want to
suppress the _login_ sound. I'll do it if you think that'd be a
useful data point.
