Bug Description
Kubuntu Edgy current, Asus M6742 laptop, ATI mobility radeon 9700.
1) I noted that if I pass to the kernel, at boot, the parameter 'vga=791', then I can't switch to TTY with ctrl-alt-F1 because screen is blank. If I don't pass that parameter, that doesn't happen and I can get TTY (of course, in a resolution not fitting my video).
2) Also I noted that with that paramater active the boot-splash looks bad, not brilliant, and it isn't centered, but shifted to the right edge of the video. Note that I changed my /etc/usplash.conf to my correct resolution (1280x800) and updated initramfs (sudo update-initramfs -u)
3) Moreover, with that parameter, under KDE, keyboard is unusable, since is stuck to random character (also see bug #63024).
Please, tell me if you need some log (well, if I'm able to get it with my keyboard...).
The issue with the framebuffer should be fixed with new usplash-version, which is already available in repositories. (was: bug #61718)
Note: "vga=791" is setting up a fb with 1024x768, so it can't display an 1280x800 usplash correctly.
Concerning the keyboard issue: is it exactly the same like the bug mentioned?
