Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

computer says. software index is broken please use the package manager "Synaptic" or run "sudo apt-get install-f" in a termanal to fix the issue at first. Then when I try the package manager it says, An error occurred. E:dpkg was interupted, you must manualy run 'sudo dpkg--configure-a' to correct the problem. E: cache->open()faild PLEASE REPORT

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

This was reported a very long time ago. Do you still have the problem? There are workarounds to get out of this situation on the Ubuntu Forums if it still is a problem.
