unable install xgraph-12.1 in ubuntu 10.04

Bug Description

i followed following steps to obtain the executable

step1: ./configure
step2: make

but in step2 i am getting following error

cd . && automake --foreign --include-deps Makefile
Makefile.am: required file `./depcomp' not found
Makefile.am: `automake --add-missing' can install `depcomp'
make: *** [Makefile.in] Error 1

OS:Studio Ubuntu 10.04 with 2.6.32-22-generic linux kernel

Try to install automake and restart the compilation
