Canon LBP 2900 printer does not work in Dapper

Bug Description

I have tried just about everything to get this printer to work, seriously:

http://antler.co.za/article/9/rudolf-0-canon-1

There exists a GNU/Linux driver created by Canon [http://software.canon-europe.com/software/canon_capt_printer_driver_for_linuxs23675.asp] but only for RPM based systems it seems and even when changed into debs they still do not work on Ubuntu.
