I cannot reproduce this if I don't have binutils-gold installed. Can you show what steps you're taking?

$ ls -la /usr/bin/ld
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2010-03-23 19:13 /usr/bin/ld -> ld.bfd
$ gcc -g main.c
$ ./a.out
It: is a gcc4.4.3 bug

two people cannot reproduce this. you need to show the steps how to reproduce this. are there any other ld or gcc binaries on the system?
