Bug Description
Binary package hint: meld
After comparing two files in meld, the previously opened file is sometimes not highlighted when trying to open a new file to compare. This is very annoying when trying to compare many similarly named files in sequence, since I may open a file that is similar to the file I wanted since it is below or above the previously opened file -- except that the previously opened file does not start off being selected.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open two files in meld
2. Make a change to one of the files.
3. Select a new file via the browse... button
what happens:
The previously selected file is not selected, it picks a new one (seemingly at random, but most often similar to the previous filename)
expected behavior:
the file that was previously selected should be preselected.
Attaching a screencast of what happens.
This worked fine in karmic, so this is a regression.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Maverick Meerkat. It won't be fixed in previous versions of Ubuntu because the package doesn't fit the requirements for backporting. See https:/ /help.ubuntu. com/community/ UbuntuBackports for more information.
