dist-upgrade failed to boot

Bug Description

Hi,

I tried "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" on karmic, it removed many packages including, the network manager, grub, and it failed to start after reboot, with the following error message:

Boot from (hd0,0) ext3 5c256729-4288-4e6e-9755-ebe92b514489
Error 15: File not found

Press any key to continue...

Let me know what information i need to provide.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add the log files from '/var/log/dist-upgrade/' to this bug report as separate attachments? Thanks in advance.

Note: You may need to use a live cd to access the log files if you can't boot your installation
