Bug Description

Jalbum is a popular tool for making web photo albums with thumbnail pages and slide shows. Albums can be served from any web server and can have any appearance. There are over 26 million web photo albums published with Jalbum to date. Jalbum is being extended, translated and supported by an active open source community.

URL: http://jalbum.net/software
License: Usage: Albums created by Jalbum can freely be used in any context, both personal and commercial. Code: Generic components under LGPL (http://jalbum.net/developer/license), 99% of the plugins (skins) are open source, core code still not open, but planned to be opened. Any help in this process from the Ubuntu community is appreciated.

Notes: Jalbum requires Sun's Java 5 or Java 6 to execute

Please make sure you follow the guidelines for new package requests [1]. I must warn you though, if the application is not currently fully open source, then you may have some problems getting it into Universe.

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

I'm sorry I missed to go by that formal formatting of the "needs packaging" request. I notice the status has been changed to "Wishlist", not knowing what that means, I hope it is one step forward.

Here is a corrected formatting. I've I've missed out on anything, please let me know:

[needs-packaging] Jalbum

We have an engaged open source community around us that helps supporting and extending the product. Jalbum has also been translated to 32 languages by our users.

Now we want to give Ubuntu users a smooth experience installing and running Jalbum too! We figure, getting into "Ubuntu Software Center" is the ideal path, hence this "needs-packaging" bug report. I gather we should apply to get into the "Universe" component with Jalbum.
