Bug Description

Hi,

We've finally come up with an alpha version of RetroShare 0.5 (http://retroshare.sourceforge.net)

RetroShare is a file exchange / mail / chat / forum plateform based on PGP authentication and SSL communications. It allows multi-hop F2F file transfer, from multiple/partial sources.

We already have a script to make a source Ubuntu package, that compiles cleanly with pbuilder for karmic and jaunty (32 and 64 bits. The only ones I tested).

We would really enjoy RetroShare to be available as an Ubuntu package.

Thanks & Regards
Cyril Soler, by name of the RetroShare dev team.

Just a few more info:

RetroShare only depends on existing standard packages (Qt4, gpgme11, openssl and libupnp3).

We now use the LaunchPad ppa to distribute the packages. Here's the address:

ppa:csoler-users/retroshare

Hope it will be helpful for the ubuntu packaging.

Hi,

Version 0.5.2 has been released in Aug.18, 2011.

Our ppa is used by approximatively 750 ubuntu users now, according to statistics.

We would be happy to have fresh news about the ubuntu packaging process, and to provide any information necessary to make this happen.

Thanks

Best regards
C.Soler

Up ;-)

How long does it take really, to get into ubuntu's packages list? You we expected to do something in particular?

BTW, gpgme is not a dependency anymore. We use OpenPGP-SDK now, that is included in the source tar.gz.

Best
C.Soler

Just wanted to let you know that the dependency libprotobuf7 is no longer available in the Trusty repositories. Looks like it is has been replaced with libprotbuf8.

I am trying to assist the development team move this forward for inclusion in Ubuntu. Can anyone indicate what the blockers are? It would seem that the software is polished and ready.
