2006-08-13 17:07:36 Chris Brown description Screen resolution has been corrupted in Kubuntu/Ubuntu 6.06 alternate after last upgrade. The installation has been working very well since June 02,06. Display settings cannot be changed. After logging in, desktop appears extremely large(640x 480) and it extends beyond the edges of the monitor screen. At the same time it can be moved to the left if the mouse points to the right edge, or to the right when mouse is moved to the left edge The same effect occurs in the vertical position. DISPLAY SETTINGS There are only two choices supported in the display settings menu: 640x480 and 1280x1024, which are marked as default. 800x600 and 1024x768 are not included. It is impossible to change the settings. The screen stays at the low resolution. At the same time both horizontal and vertical sync are lost after moving the desktop up and down or left and right, with the mouse pointer. It seems that this condition appeared after an ugrgade of nine packages which included an upgrade of Firefox to version 1.5.0.4.,today June 09,06, and when I logged out and rebooted. A similar installation in another Hard Disk, used for testing, works without any problems (last 9 upgrades have not been installed here) Screen resolution has been corrupted in Kubuntu/Ubuntu 6.06 alternate after last upgrade. No special action needed to reproduce; thats just how ir starts up.
