Bug Description

Binary package hint: hplip-ppds

All the hpijs printers was removed from the pachage foomatic-filters-ppds and moved to the new package hplip-ppds, but in the hplip-ppds packages there are only HP printers and not all the printers using hpijs driver.

So now all not HP printer using hpijs driver (Kyocera, Canon, Samsung, etc.) are missing because they are not in foomatic-filters-ppds and also not in hplip-hpijs.

manteiner of foomatic-filters-ppds and hplip-ppds must spead each other better!

Have a nidce day.
Bye

I confirm this bug using Dapper 6.06 LTS.
Packages foomatic-filters-ppds and hplip-ppds come from Debian.
I have written this Debian specification: http://wiki.debian.org/PpdFileStructureSpecification to improve interoperability between PPD providing packages from different sources and maintainers.
Inspired by this specification hplip-ppds in Debian has since been renamed to hpijs-ppds.
My idea was and is still that all hpijs PPDs belong in package hpijs-ppds and should be installed in /usr/share/ppd/hpijs. Currently only hplip hpijs PPDs are in this package. Could you please file a bug report upstream in Debian package hpijs-ppds to let the developer know there is a problem so this problem gets fixed for future releases. Howto report Debian bug is described here: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting.

Fixed in Edgy since foomatic-db-engine 3.0.2-20060530-2ubuntu2.
In Edgy dynamically generated PPDs from foomatic-db-hpijs are used now, foomatic-db-hpijs contains the necessary information to generate all hpijs PPDs (for both HP and non-HP printers).

Aaron, this is because of the debian bug watch.
You should be able to set the remote watch to none and then close the bug.
