Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

This bug is a follow up of the bugs #462973 and #473409.

Using "repository ppa:xorg-edgers/nouveau".
With KMS parameter nouveau.modeset=1 some issues during startup occur:

1. During startup when showing the ubuntu logo, the resolution with kms is for a few seconds lower than without kms.
2. Before increasing the resolution, the logo is destroyed for about 5 seconds, afterwards it seems to reappear with higher resolution.
3. The login screen with kms has a lower resolution than without kms.
4. The first few seconds after login the desktop is a mixture of scrambled desktop and the login screen. (See attached screenshot)
5. Finally the desktop correctly appears and everything is fine.

Except that the scrambled screen looks a little different, no difference to ubuntu nouveau driver from experimental (Bug #473409 ) detected.

Thanks for performing this testing. We've uploaded a new -nouveau to Lucid which should no longer be experiencing this problem.
