Please help.. this is a vital portion of Business use and releasing Karmic with this bug .. may be quite detrimental to people who use Ubuntu in the Enterprise.. (I haven't yet checked to see if the problem occurs in openSUSE or other "like package" distributions. ).

Note: The problem didn't exist with 9.04

Bart,

I've uploaded the 2.17.1 libraries that work. You can download them here:
http://www.benkevan.com/upload/lotus_notes/

Download them into /opt/ibm/lotus/notes (the default lotus notes installation location).

This should resolve your issue.

For me, this worked fine!
With 1 note: in KDE the popups are behing the splash screen, which blocks the notes.
In gnome, this was ok, and then it worked.

Tnx

Shawn ,

Do:

ls -l /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/libg*

and give the output.. i have a feeling you didn't copy to the correct location..

Hi,
I can confirm that it works OK. Thanks for providing the patch

Maybe a hint for Shawn: I copied the files as root and it copied it with wrong permissions - make sure the new files have 755 and are owned by root

Same problem on Debian unstable/sid. Copying the libs from EclipseAgent's site and chmodding them fixed the issue.

Closing this bug at it appears to be fixed following EclipseAgent's direction AND Lotus Notes is not a package provided by Ubuntu, thus not supported by Ubuntu.

If someone has a link to a Lotus Notes bug tracker, feel free to paste that here for others to use in the future.

Thanks!

EclipseAgent (ben-kevan) wrote :

The above "work around" isn't really a fix. It's just using the native 2.17.1 gtk libs for Lotus Notes. But yes, I think it's an acceptable workaround (as opposed to patching GNOME) for this issue until it's resolved by IBM's Lotus Notes Team.

The upstream report is filed under:
SPR: YYSN7VRA4F

So if you have access to an IBM rep, then be sure to bug him about it, to get it fixed.

Andy,

Are you running KDE? If so, what version? Have you changed your GTK+ theme from a KDE to a GNOME based theme?
My guess is that there's an issue around QTCurve theme and the older version of GTK..

My hope is that IBM fixes the issue by 8.5.2

svji, and others with this issue..

Although I still have the libraries at the following location:
http://www.freetechie.com/upload/lotus_notes/

(I'm doing away with the www.benkevan.com for technical stuff soon) I have to say that the issue won't be resolved in Ubuntu, but in Lotus Notes itself. I am happy to announce though, that the issue has been fixed in Lotus Notes 8.5.2 (which I've been lucky enough to be running for a few months in openSUSE and Ubuntu).

With that said, it works mostly (I have one issue with HTML emails I am going to try to resolve) in Ubuntu 10.04.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, your issues won't be resolved since there's an incompatibility with Lotus Notes 8.5.0 / 8.5.1 and the versions of GTK+ in Ubuntu 9.10+ (maybe 9.04 also, but I haven't verified). Those distributions were not supported distro's for those versions of Lotus Notes (only the LTS version was).

So I expect this bug can be closed with a won't / can't fix, since it's really an IBM issue that has already been resolved.
