i solved the sound problem with the last post on the parent thread (thanks nurvzy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/318942/comments/175

but no external mic. i've tried a few fixes but im scared to break the sound in the process. nothing so far worked

Sound from speakers and mic work great by unmutting "Surround" in Volume Control as linked above.

However, I'm unable to get my internal mic to pick up anything other than garbled sound. It does recognize the level of volume (talk louder the garbled sound gets louder), but doesn't pick up and play back anything other than garbled clicks.

This should probably be in another bug ticket but I wonder if it's related. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm using sound recorder to test.
