APT errors when using jm Ubuntu mirrror

Binary package hint: synaptic

when trying to update i get the following error message: 'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/jm.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_jaunty-updates_main_binary-i386_Packages, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

Could you please open up a terminal and run "sudo apt-get update" and give us the output. If this produces no errors, then proceed to "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade".

That's pretty interesting...

Could you try using a different mirror?

Go to Settings > Repositories in Synaptic

After you do this, try to do an update again and see if the situation changes.

i get an error message when i try to open synaptic also : E: Encountered a section with no Package: header

ok i went into the software sources and i switched to the main server so it works now i don't understand why i cannot download from the jamaican server. should i switch back or will i be fine with the main server?

The issue is with their own server. It appears they had a bad sync from the main repositories. I'll see what I can do about this.

slight problem with that the jamaican server is not in the menu i don't know how to get back
