Bug Description

The web'n'walk Stick III from T-Mobile (Option iCON 225) is not recognized by the NetworkManager in Karmic Koala. It worked for me in Jaunty Jackalope.

I can confirm this too. I use the Option 225 on Orange UK's contract network. It works fine under Jaunty but there is breakage in the detection in Karmic.

Have attached the output of possibly interesting logs for both insertions and removals of the dongle. Will be happy to test potential fixes.

This problem got fixed for me with the latest update. Probably it was the package modemmanager which was installed during the update.

But actually there's still one problem: When removing the stick from the computer without disabling the connection in the NetworkManager applet first, the system freezes and you have to restart the computer using Alt-SysRq-REISUB

I just tried the stick again and it doesn't work anymore an a fresh installation of Karmic Koala with all the current updates.

The stick works now, again. But it's not possible to remove it again after a connection was established, because the system will crash otherwise. This happens even if disconnecting in nm-applet before removing the stick.

detects fine now in Karmic, crash on disconnect is a separate issue.
