menu bars disappeared

Bug Description
Since yesterday I am experience the absence of the menu bars in many of Ubuntu applications. For example: Pidgin, Gimp, Evolution... I need this menu bars to appear so I can carry on with a normal user experience.
The menu bars used to have the File, Edit, View, etc... options
I am running Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 with ext4 on a Toshiba Satellite U305.
I toggled the System>
Please help me with this issue,

hey, i have the same issue - linux.org.ua adviced to log in as a different user, if menus are there (as in my case) - try to delete .gnome folder. should help,but will erase all your settings....
