Bug Description

Just installed Ubuntu 9.04 and went to shut down the system, but no menu choice. Had to open a terminal window and issue a shutdown command. No big deal, but curious.

Hi SnoBear,
this is not a bug, there is no "shut down" item in the system menu per design.
To shut down your system you can use the FUSA applet which is on the very top-right corner of your screen in the panel per default.

Changed in ubuntu:
status: New → Won't Fix
